Packing Suggestions

Make sure you're prepared for your adventure! Follow these tips from our experienced tour consultants and group leaders:

  • Pack light! Travelers will be responsible for loading their luggage on and off buses, through airports and into hotels.
  • Carry valuables, medicines and an extra change of clothes in your SST backpack as a carry-on.
  • Wear a pouch underneath your clothing to store your money and passport (if traveling to Canada).
  • Coordinate your clothing so that mixing and matching a few basic things will give you several outfits.
  • Sweatshirts are bulky and take up a lot of space. Instead, bring a lightweight nylon jacket or warm-up top.
  • Pack comfortable shoes and an umbrella or raincoat, no matter the season.
  • Participants with prescription medication should give you a copy of the prescription for safekeeping.
  • Students who wear contact lenses or glasses should bring a back-up pair and a copy of their prescription.
  • Don't forget to bring a small camera and battery charger—and even a disposable 35 mm camera (in case your good one fails).
  • Don't bring more than three of anything. Remember that many of you will purchase souvenir clothing—T-shirts, etc.—while on tour. You can always pick up some items you suddenly think you need.
  • Be sure to check the weather forecast for your travel destination before you pack.
